MARATHON DE LAUSANNE 2024

Did I think it would be really hard? Yes. But boy was it harder.

For 26km it was smooth I can't say it was easy, but it almost was. And suddenly physically, mentally I'm done. I start to walk. I'm passed by the 4h pacer, so I start running with her. 2-3 km later: a climb. Walking. Again.

Me "just running to the next toilet ähhhhm house"

Emilie retired. Who's Emile? He replaced an injured friend 4 days before the marathon with little to no training. He got to the 30th km and stopped.

My friend Elias who isn't officially running took the train to the halfline and ran back with me. What a boss. After some time he pulls out his phone and plays a video. Goggins. David fucking Goggins. 1 minute in to it I'm flying. Thank you, David. I realise my body and my mind might well be telling me to stop I'm the one setting the tone. Like Tony Robbins said “Whatever you consistently think about and focus upon you move toward.” As for me, I was thinking about how my body felt, and I was surely a product of that.

A couple of kilometers later I'm back to the walk until a kind-hearted man touches my shoulder while passing me and tells me something like "let's go you've got it." At that point in time it felt like Jesus was touching me. His energy was so pure I started running, and we actually ran the next 4km together with Elias by our side. He motivated others too but no one was influenced by it quite like I was. 1km before the finish he started cramping. I thanked him. What a giver.

Jesus and Aloïs running Christoph a.k.a."Jesus" on my right.

Some sprints for the end

Yeah, and that was basically it. Now I'm not able to walk anymore, so I'm writing this lying on my futon.
Here are some of the ways I've prepared and some of the consequences it had on me. Can I do it again?
