Once you have momentum it's easier to switch.
There was a professor who split up his his class in 2. One part was graded based on how many pictures they took. So quantity. The other part was graded based on their best picture from this year.
What happened was that the group that did a lot of pictures changed some little thing everytime they took them. Changed the angle, the light, the zoom, the effect. And by the time the year ended and they were graded the group that was graded based on quantity also had the higher quality because they had done it in every possible way.
Unwanted advice: If you don't know where to start, just do something. It doesn't have to be money related or anything, just something. And if that is even to difficult: Stare at a wall until you're body tells you to go yada yada yada.
