INNER COMPASS VS OUTER COMPASS VS NO COMPASS AT ALL

Some people do what everyone else is doing. Some people do anything without thinking about anyone and some people do what they think is right.

Most people do not have a strong inner will to stick to what they feel is right inside. They’ll look away when something bad is happening like a fight on the street. But that’s not the only way one can carry himself. One can also go into the fight and try to stop it. Now I’m not encouraging people to endanger themselves but if you feel it’s okay then overcome your fear and step in. Other people will have trained themselves so hard out of this inner voice that they’ll say things like I don’t care about it which is far from the truth sometimes without them even knowing it consciously. But really conforming to social norm and doing anything are two sides of the same coin.

What I like to think about when I wonder how to behave is more of an inner compass that guides me. I could try and look at the other compasses or throw mine away and ignore them all but that’s not how my life is meant to be. I like to focus on my own compass. Wherever my north leads me. But it’s not always easy to follow my north. For example, sending postcards to 35 people was socially not easy but it was good.
